Fisker Automotive has supplied replacement battery packs to the majority of customers and dealers affected by the recent recall of Fisker Karma models due to a possible battery faults.
Last week Autocar reported that the Californian car company was recalling every Fisker Karma due to a fault with the car's battery connection.
The Karma, which went on sale in late 2011, is powered by twin 201bhp electric motors and a 260bhp petrol engine/generator. The problem is linked to the fitting of the hose clamps to the 20kWh lithium ion battery pack, which is supplied by a company called A123 Systems.
Today Fisker confirmed that it has either fitted brand new battery packs or carried out repairs to the hose clamp assembly to most of the 239 Fisker Karmas, and has contacted the remaining customers to schedule its replacement battery installation.
Henrik Fisker, CEO of Fisker Automotive said: “We decided that the immediate replacement of the battery pack in every vehicle was the right approach for all our customers.”
