This is the facelifted Kia Cee'd, which was launched today at the Frankfurt motor show.

The facelift results in modest changes to the Kia Cee'd's styling. The front and rear headlights and bumper are a new shape, and the front grille has been revised, falling into line with the new Kia styling, first seen on the Kia Soul.

Inside, there's a new steering wheel and gearlever design, red backlighting for the instrumentation, and tweaks to the centre console and audio systems.

The Cee'd's suspension set-up has also been retuned, with UK-specific testing having been carried out to improve its ride and handling.

Kia is also using the arrival of the facelifted Cee'd to revise its engine line-up. The 2.0-litre diesel is being dropped, while other engines in the range will be revised to help cut emissions by around five per cent.

The 2.0-litre diesel is being replaced by 148bhp and 187bhp versions of the 1.6-litre diesel, both mated to a new six-speed manual gearbox.

There will also be a new 1.6 diesel-engined Eco-Dynamics model fitted with Kia's ISG start-stop technology. It will produce 110g/km of CO2.

The new Kia Cee'd goes on sale in the UK from 1 October, with pricing announced closer to the launch date.

Not sure about the new "face" of Kia, especially on the Ceed. It's styling is too close to it's Hyundai i30 sibling for comfort.

The original styling may have been a little bland, but at least it was clean. This has just dated the car overnight. Shame.

It's all about the twisties........

"The 2.0-litre diesel is being replaced by 148bhp and 187bhp versions of the 1.6-litre diesel, both mated to a new six-speed manual gearbox."

Hold on a minute, the 2.0 litre diesel is being replaced with 148bhp and 187 bhp 1.6 litre diesel. Is this a typo ?, if not then WOW! that powerout from a 1.6 is very good.

Thats better then most german cars at the moment, its so good I am shocked 187bhp from a 1.6 litre diesel Kia ..... VW still using the same 2.0 tdi 168bhp from the mark 5 whats going on Kia

What a shame the last Cee'd, was actually quite distictive, especially from the back, now its just a generic korean car.

A pity

Helped someone get a deal on Cee'd only last week - a 113bhp 1.6crdi LS brand new 59 reg in metallic. The car comes with loads of equipment, half leather, cruise, auto climate etc.

Kia are knocking £2000 off the list price on the current model and the dealer added approx £500 on top of that. (a guess'timate based on his generous trade-in price). Bought the car for approx £11700 on-the-road. And of course it comes with the 7 year transferable warranty.

Can't wait till the new shape comes out... will make our recent purchase an even bigger bargain!

PS the car already comes with 6 speakers, CD, mp3 player, aux-in and USB port + ipod functionality as well as steering wheel audio controls. Wonder what this is being upgraded to?

It was bland before the facelift and it's still bland now. I doubt that most Cee'd customers who are no doubt trading in Nissan Almeras and Corollas for one will care.
