The 2017 Autocar Awards will take place at Silverstone on 23 May.
Held in the Northamptonshire circuit's prestigious Wing complex, the ceremony will kick-off at 6.30pm following the day-long CDX car dealer conference, with winners being announced throughout the evening in front of the cream of the UK and international car industry.
The pinnacle of the evening will be the awarding of the Issigonis Trophy, which honours the individual who has contributed the most to the health, excellence and competitiveness of the European motor industry, and the Sturmey Award, named after Autocar’s founder from 1895, which salutes innovation and achievement in the motor industry.
Autocar will also recognise every car that has achieved a coveted five-star road test result during the previous 12 months. Winners in 2016 included the Porsche 911 GT3 RS, Ariel Nomad, Ford Focus RS, McLaren 570S, Porsche Cayman GT4 and Ferrari 488 GTB.
Other awards include the Readers' Champion Award, the Innovation Award, which recognises technical prowess, and the Used Car Champion, which is judged by Autocar’s used car guru James Ruppert.
Autocar’s Design, Engineering and Motorsport Heroes will also be revealed on the night and the industry’s Outstanding UK Leaders recognised. Cars that the judges decree have done the most to move the car industry, or their makers, forwards in the past year will also be recognised as Autocar Game-Changers.
“Last year’s new-look ceremony was incredibly well received, so we’re thrilled to be hosting it at Silverstone again and welcoming the cream of the car industry,” said Autocar brand director Rachael Prasher. “The Autocar Awards not only celebrate the highest achievers in the industry over the past 12 months but also allow us to demonstrate our status as Britain’s longest-established and most trusted enthusiast brand."
Jim Holder, editorial director of Autocar, added: “Autocar’s status within the industry, and the prestige of our awards, guarantees an exciting evening for everyone attending. Our Awards events have always had a unique flavour, and we’re excited to return to the Home of British Motorsport after such a successful ceremony in 2016.”
