Citroën sets sights on WTCC, new dealer in Malaysia for McLaren, Peugeot Pikes Peak car passes scrutineering, new head of Chevrolet, Toyota blasts off

Citroën has confirmed that it will compete in the World Touring Car Championship in 2014 with Sébastien Loeb as one of its drivers. Citroën CEO Frederic Banzet said that the global nature of the championship was a big incentive to promote the brand.

Sime Darby Motors is to represent McLaren Automotive in Malaysia as the British company expands its Asia Pacific sales network. It will be the 41st retail location for McLaren, and the seventh in the Asia-Pacific region.

The Peugeot 208 T16 Pikes Peak has passed technical scrutineering for this Sunday’s Race to the Clouds in Colorado. Nine-time World Rally champion Sébastien Loeb will be driving it in the 91st running of the annual Pikes Peak hillclimb.

General Motors has announced the appointment of Alan Batey as senior vice president of Global Chevrolet. Batey will also serve as the head of US sales, service and marketing for Chevrolet, Buick and GMC.

Toyota has been given clearence to send its Kirobo 'robonaut' into space. The Robot will take part in the first robot-human conversation experiments onboard the international space station. Its launch is scheduled for August from the Tanegashima Space Centre in Japan.

Well it's about time......

Here I was, sitting in West Sussex, wondering when the hell McLaren was going to open a dealership in Malaysia.  Thank god they have finally got round to it.
