My Best in Show isn’t going to make it to the 10 o’clock TV news, as it were, but for the record it’s the Ferrari FF, which looked stunning and made me salivate at the idead of getting it on the road.

However, and it’s a big but, if the FF hadn’t been at the show, I’d’ve given the ribbon to the Italdesign Tex. It’s a three-door Polo coupe, that’s dripping with Giugiaro charisma.

It’s got heavily scalloped doors, a panoramic roof and a grille that’s shallower than a Channel 5 news bulletin - the bare minimum for a show car, you could argue - but best of all it’s got the personality of the original Scirocco, probably the most desirable and accessible car of my ill-spent youth.
