New pictures of BMW's M235i leak online, displaying the 2-series performance variant in full

Pictures of the new BMW M235i have been leaked online, revealing the car in full.

The images, which are claimed to be official BMW shots, appear to show the final production version of the the M235i.

Previously, images were published on an internet forum following a dealer presentation.

The M235i is powered by a 3.0-litre in-line six-cylinder turbocharged engine producing 322bhp and 322lb ft of torque, according to leaked specifications. It's the most powerful model in the 2-series range and can sprint from 0-62mph in 5.0sec. Its top speed is thought to be limited to 155mph.

It's the least efficient of the 2-series range, managing 35mpg on a combined cycle and emitting 189g/km of CO2.

The standard 2-series has been caught testing numerous times before, in various stages of disguise. The BMW 2-series will replace the current 1-series coupé and cabriolet models when it goes on sale.

The new BMW M235i is due to launch towards the middle of next year.

The BMW 2 Series Coupé marks a successful return of the 1 Series Coupé. Overall it is a more compelling package than before but can it drive buyers away from the Audi TT and conventional hatchbacks?

BUT!!!!!!

Yes it could have been better resolved, maybe integrated the rear light clusters into the Boot lip as with other BMW's do...?,either way it replaces Toyota's old mantra...the car in front is a..........?

If you want it to look nice, it's not a good idea to base the styling on other BMWs.

compared to the 1 series, its a work of art. But they really should have just given it 2 seats and adjusted the roofline to suit. Its not as if you could get anyone with legs or a head in the back is it? It will probably look good as the soft top i assume will follow in a few months

I love that you can still buy a small BMW with a 6 pot petrol engine, although its a shame you have to get to the top of the range before you get one.

Hardly Ugly

Not sure what all the fuss is about. The back end is no masterpiece but it's not ugly, just a bit bland. Not helped by the colour, a bright red would be better or something moody and metallic. Personally I like the more understated style - if you want bling buy an Audi.

Not bright or red enough for you? It looks very bright and red to me. It's not the colour that's an issue for me, it''s the rear styling. BMW can (and have done) better than this, to my eyes.

Despite not liking bling, I do like a really bright red - Audi's red is much nicer, the BMW one just seems a bit flat to me and I don't think it shows the car off well. I'd agree BMW could have done better with the rear styling but I certainly wouldn't call it ugly as some have.

Just the usual overreaction to a new design. It doesn't set the world of design on fire, and it is kind of bland at the back, but overall sleek enough.
