New Renault Megane Sport Tourer is spotted testing

The next model in the new Renault Megane range – an estate version – has been spotted testing. The new estate, to be called the Renault Megane Sport Tourer, will go on sale later this year after a launch at the Geneva motor show in March.

Next generation Renault Megane Sports Tourer unveiled at the 2016 Geneva Motorshow

The new Sport Tourer will be the third Renault Megane variant, following the five-door hatchback and three-door Coupe. The Renault Megane Sport Tourer will join the range after the Renaultsport Megane, the replacement for today’s R26, which will also be launched at Geneva.

Despite the heavy disguise covering the car in our pictures, the new Renault Megane Sport Tourer is identical to the hatch from the B-pillars forward. The Sport Tourer will look neater and more integrated to the hatch’s design than the current Megane Tourer, though, which replaced the hatch’s distinctive bustle boot with a much plainer rear.

The roofline is also more elegant and drops away more sharply at the rear, which should help the Megane Sport Tourer’s visual appeal and makes it seem more of an individual model than the current car.

Renault will also launch two more Megane variants at Geneva, the new Scenic and the Grand Scenic, which retain their five and seven-seat layouts respectively. They will go on sale in the UK before the Sport Tourer, which arrives in the UK in August.
