The Korando comes with a choice of manual or automatic transmissions, two-wheel or four-wheel drive and three trim levels- S, ES, and the range-topping EX.

Cruise control, ESP, Hill Start Assist and reverse parking sensors all come as standard, with climate control, sunroof, leather upholstery and heated front and rear seats optional.

Ssangyong Motor UK CEO Paul Williams said the new model is “very keenly priced, [has] a comprehensive list of standard equipment, excellent towing capability and thanks to its long wheelbase a spacious and airy interior, is the clever choice for families and those who tow a caravan, horsebox or trailer.”

The car will provide “the high riding position and all-weather, off road ability that many drivers look for along with compact dimensions, low emissions and affordable running costs.”

Prices for the Ssangyong Korando start from £16,995.
