The Renault Scénic and Grand Scénic MPVs have been facelifted and will get two new downsized engines for February 2012.
The first new engine is the 1.5 dCi 110 Stop and Start, which is an enhanced version of the French marque’s core diesel engine. Featuring stop-start and brake energy regeneration, it returns claimed fuel economy of 68.9mpg and CO2 emissions of 105g/km, but has 192lb ft of torque at 1750rpm, an increase of 14lb ft over the existing 1.5 dCi powerplant.

From spring 2012, the five- and seven-seater versions of Scénic will also be the first Renaults to get the new 1.2 TCe 115 petrol engine. Due to gradually replace the 1.6 VVT 110, it offers CO2 emissions of 135g/km and fuel economy of 49.6mpg. It produces 140lb ft of torque.
The 1.6 dCi 130 Stop and Start, as tested by Autocar earlier this year, will continue to be part of the range.
In addition to the new powerplants, the revamped models get revised front-end styling with a sharper, more contemporary look, gloss black and chrome detailing, standard LED daytime running lights and new rear lights. There is also a new range of wheel trims and alloy wheels, plus two new body colours in Azzurro Blue and Damask Red.
Other new features include two new pieces of equipment: Renault’s lane departure warning and automatic headlight low/high beam system (collectively know as Visio), plus hill start assist. As with previous iterations, the 2012 versions of Scénic and Grand Scénic get a Bose audio system and TomTom sat-nav.
The full specification and pricing of the Scénic and Grand Scénic range will be released closer to launch. UK orders will commence on 1 February 2012, with first deliveries due in March.
The Scénic and Grand Scénic, which are manufactured in northern France, have collectively sold in excess of 400,000 examples since the launch of the current generation at the end of 2009.
