The updated Lexus IS has been revealed at the Beijing motor show, with revised styling and interior tweaks

Lexus has revealed the refreshed IS at the Beijing motor show.

The new-look IS adopts similar front-end styling to its GS and RC siblings, with more streamlined headlights, a revised front grille and more aggressive air intakes.

Daytime running lights in a V-shape that split opinion have been carried over from the pre-facelift model. The V motif is continued at the rear of the car, where similarly-shaped LEDs are incorporated into the tail-light clusters.

A Lexus spokesperson couldn’t confirm any details of the facelifted IS ahead of its European debut – and also couldn’t confirm when or where this would be – further than the model’s likely appearance in late 2016 or early 2017.

New wheel designs also feature on the updated BMW 3 Series and Mercedes-Benz C-Class rival, as well as two new paint finishes – in dark blue and black.

In addition to the exterior styling, tweaks have been made in the cabin. An enlarged infotainment screen – reportedly growing from 7.0in to 10.3in – being the most prominent. Very subtle new markings on the central analogue clock are also on the list of revisions.

Reports also suggest the driver assistance systems will be upgraded, but there will be no alterations to the drivetrain, engine or gearbox.

have looked ugly but have grown on me especially when seen in the metal. Not sure about this though, the IS was a handsome car but now just looks bizarre. I was going to replace my 09 IS with this model - may well be an A4 now...

Lexus are trying too hard. When cheap black plastic engulfs the front end of your car, attractiveness inevitably suffers.
