BMW X3 rival's prices announced

Infiniti's V6-powered, all-wheel drive EX will cost from £35,200.

The EX, which is smaller than its sister model the FX, is said by Infiniti to 'blend the style and performance of a sports coupe with the character of a compact SUV.' Essentially, it’s a crossover, mid-way in concept between BMW’s X3 and the 3-Series Touring.

Infiniti FX from £42,600.

Two models are available: the EX37 and EX37 GT. Both are powered by a 316bhp 3.7-litre V6 petrol with 266lb ft of torque. the engine is linked too a seven-speed automatic gearbox and takes 6.4sec to propel the car from 0-62mph.

Both cars have a limited top speed of 149mph, and average 25.0mph while emitting 265g/km of CO2.

Standard features include 18-inch alloys, front and rear parking sensors, cruise control, Bluetooth connectivity, Xenon headlamps, rear privacy glass, Scratch Shield paint, which self-heals scratches, and electronic folding rear seats.

The EX37 GT costs an additional £1300 and adds leather upholstery, electric powered and heated front seats, an electrically adjustable steering column and an integrated coat hanger in teh driver's headrest.

Buyers can also opt for Infiniti's Connectiviti+ sat-nav system for £1700, which tracks traffic information, includes hotel and places of interest information and plays DVDs when the car is stationary.

Other options include intelligent cruise control and brake assist (£850), an around view monito (£850), Bose stereo (£600), metallic paint (£650), electric glass sunroof (£700), maple wood interior trim (£300) and polished aluminium rood rails (£250).

UK deliveries of the EX will begin in September.
