Mercedes E-class prices revealed, worldwide Nissan recall, new Alfa Giulietta model, Peugeot 508 specification updates

Mercedes-Benz has released official prices for the forthcoming E-class coupé and cabriolet. Available in either SE or AMG sport trim, the coupé will start from £35,095 while the cabriolet will be priced from £38,465.

Nissan says it will recall 841,000 vehicles worldwide over concerns about a steering wheel glitch. The recall, which includes UK-built Micras produced between 2002 and 2006, was announced amid fears over a loss of steering. The recall also includes the Japan-built Cube minicar.

Alfa Romeo has launched a special version of the Giulietta. The Collezione edition features a contrast roof together with different body styling and interior upgrades. There's a choice of four engines, with prices starting at £18,265.

Peugeot has made some changes to its specifications for the 508 saloon and SW models. Satellite navigation is now standard on all but the base-spec Access model, while the Allure specification now includes Smartbeam automatic lighting. Other changes include the GT model now coming with 19in alloy wheels as standard, as well as front parking sensors.

Our Verdict

Its ambition is to be a world player, so will it show world-class ability?

The Nissan Micra is a supermini offering low running costs but in most other areas is below the class average
