British firm APS boosts the power of the Mk6 Golf GTI

Tuning firm APS has just revealed details of an upgrade kit for the recently-launched Mk6 Volkswagen Golf GTI.

The APS Stage-One kit consists purely of an ECU re-map, and sees the 2.0-litre TFSI unit’s outputs rise by 43bhp and 85lb-ft, meaning peaks of 250bhp and 292lb-ft.

The result is a reduction in the 0-60mph benchmark time to 6.2 seconds, down from 6.9 and two tenths quicker than the upcoming Scirocco R. Expect an increase on the standard 149mph top speed, too.

Brackley-based APS is offering the upgrade for £599 fitted it's available immediately.
