Focus RS man named global head of Ford Performance Vehicles

Ford’s European Performance Vehicles boss, Jost Capito, is to become the company’s new global head of motorsport and performance vehicles.

Capito will fill the newly created position of Director of Global Performance Vehicles and Motorsport Business Development, moving from his European role, where he led development of the new Focus RS as well as the Fiesta and Focus ST models.

In his new role Capito will take charge of global development for all Ford performance vehicles. That includes the European Team RS and North American SVT.

Capito is also the ideal candidate to head up the development of Ford’s future motorsport business strategy having been chief operating officer for the Sauber Formula One team and a winner of the Paris-Dakar Rally’s truck category in 1985.

He also lead Ford’s World Rally Championship team between 2003 and 2007, winning two manufacturer’s championships in his last two seasons.

Dirk Densing will now control Ford’s European performance vehicles operations, and will report to Capito when they start their new jobs in January.
