Jaguar spokesperson says that apparent F-type coupé renderings in fact show the C-X16 concept from 2011

Leaked renderings which appear to show a Jaguar F-type coupé are in fact images of the original C-X16 concept car, a Jaguar spokesperson has told Autocar.

The images were originally filed for patent back in August 2011, prior to the reveal of the C-X16 at the Frankfurt motor show in September of that year.

Jaguar has recently launched its F-type convertible, which shares much of its styling with the C-X16. This suggests that a Jaguar F-type coupé, if one were to go in to production, may also closely resemble the C-X16 concept.

Our Verdict

Jaguar F-Type Convertible

The Jaguar F-Type convertible provides direct competition to the 718 Boxster and the 911 Cabriolet, but can the big cat take a bite out of its Porsche rivals?

Was this while they were together at the pub?

Negative nancys should stop complaining. I for one love reading about Jaguar because it's 1 of the last british carmakers left. Furthermore they finally have the freedom to design cars in their own way unhindered by fords idiotic global plan. The cars look way better now and the technology innovation is at a level where it is truly exciting to read about. I'm not even british and I feel like this. You people are probably american or something similar since you don't appreciate the british automotive industry. And last but not least Autocar is, in my opinion, the best news site for cars atm. (I've checked almost every other website out that's in a language I understand so I'm not just throwing BS out there.)

I agree that it is great to see Jaguar and Land Rover having the money to produce great cars without the hindrance of outside management.

British people love to knock their own success stories. I'm British, but don't support this negative passive aggressive attitude. Just ignore them. Where's R32? He's always got a negative comment.

The F-Type coupe will appear, but not until the initial wave of interest in the roadster dies down, and given that there's a 9-month waiting list that could be some time - say, 2015?
