Porsche unveils new 911 turbo

Here are the first official pictures of the finished Porsche 911 Turbo.

The most powerful 911 Turbo yet, the new car’s 3600cc flat-six engine features a variable-vane turbo, which adds an overboost function for the first time. This increases the turbo’s boost pressure by 0.2 bar for up to 10 seconds, upping torque by 44lb ft to 479lb ft and cutting the 50-75mph time by 0.3sec.

Equipped with the optional Tiptronic auto gearbox, the Turbo is faster than the manual car — it will crack 62mph in 3.7sec, as opposed to 3.9sec. Both cars have a top speed of 192mph. In addition to the standard uprated brakes (with six-piston calipers at the front), buyers will be able to opt for high-performance ceramic brakes, which also cut the car’s 1580kg weight by 17kg.

The Turbo will cost £97,840 and goes on sale on 24 June.
