Extreme go-anywhere version of the Mercedes G-Wagon launched in Paris

Mercedes has launched a new ‘go-anywhere’ version of its G-Wagon, the LAPV 6.X Concept.

The Mercedes G-Wagon Light Armoured Patrol Vehicle 6.X Concept has been launched at a conference for defence professionals in Paris.

It can carry longer and heavier cargo than its LAPV 5.4 predecessor and can hit 93mph carrying up to 1300kg of cargo. The capacity of its common-rail diesel engine is unspecified.

Its armour-plated design allows for easy changing of damaged armour panels, while additional armour can be added for improved protection in warzones. Extra land mine protection can be added underneath, too.

It features air springs to allow for up to 450mm of additional ground clearance and ventilated brake discs for improved performance over rough terrain.

Military technology developed with the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company features, too. The EADS system includes communication and jamming systems, as well as an on-board data recorder.
