These are the latest spy pictures of the new Range Rover Evoque in action.
The Evoque - first dubbed LRX - has carried much of its original concept’s styling over to the production car. It is similar to size to the Volkswagen Golf, but the rakish coupe-style roofline reveals Land Rover has sacrificed some practicality for style with its design.

LRX is only a codename for the car at present, although its final production name has yet to be decided. The LRX will be built at Land Rover's Halewood plant in Merseyside and will be the first Land Rover to be offered with optional two-wheel drive, although only four-wheel drive models will be available from launch.
All versions of the LRX are likely to use a version of the Freelander’s drivetrain, with a revised specification of that car’s PSA-sourced 2.2-litre turbodiesel engine producing around 185bhp.
It will also be the first manual Range Rover since 2002, because a six-speed manual 'box will be standard. The front-drive model will emit less than 130g/km of CO2; four-wheel-drive LRXs will emit around 140g/km.
The LRX will enter production next year and will be priced from around £35,000; front-drive models will cost around £5000 less.

Re: Range Rover LRX: new pics
An LRX passed me near Balsall Common today - maybe even the one in the pics - and it is remarkably unremarkable in the metal, on the road. If it wasn't for the swirly paint job, I might not even have realised that it wasn't an RR Sport in the rear view mirror. I suppose the real news is what is happening engineering wise in terms of relatively sensible CO2 figures.
Re: Range Rover LRX: new pics
It's the ideal car for MINI owners to move up from - i.e. those who don't do the price vs. practicality vs. value argument. I will say now it will be a great success for JLR and sell like hotcakes.
p.s. the camoflage/disguise would make cool wallpaper ...

The blind spots on this thing look huge, why did
they not go the whole hog and make it a van.
I think this thing looks very silly.
