The Volkswagen Passat CC will now be sold with a middle rear seat.
The car has been sold with two individual rear seats from launch, but will now only be available as a five-seater - although the middle seat space is smaller.

VW has also announced other updates for the Passat, including touch-screen satellite-navigation and Bluetooth devices as standard.
The GT model also gets cruise control, front and rear parking sensors, and a leather interior.
Prices are also up - although VW says the extra kit was outweighs the increase. The entry-level model, for instance, costs £515 more but has £1000 of kit.

There's an all new Mondeo/Insignia competitor mainstream Passat due very early next year (probably be launched at Paris in September). The Passat CC is very much an alternative to compact executives such as the BMW 3/A4/C'Class and this is where VW have been finding their sales. VW needs both cars but in my opinion the CC should never have used the Passat name because there will always be those who draw the above comparison.

I could not agree more ---- but --- are people really going to pay the price premium?

That means they can stop making the regular Passat now. Thank God for that.This is the car the Passat should have been all along.
