Sports car firm will launch a new road car at the Le Mans 24 Hours in June

Panoz is set to reveal an all-new sports car at the Le Mans 24 Hours in June.

The front-engined Panoz Abruzzi will be built on an aluminium chassis evolved from the firm’s outgoing Esperante. It is likely to be powered by a 4.6-litre Ford V8 tuned to produce around 300bhp.

A sketch of the Abruzzi has appeared on internet forums. The believed to be the work of one of the firm’s forum designers, although it has not been released as an official image.

The car was confirmed by the firm’s founder Don Panoz at the Sebring 12 Hours race last weekend. He said the car would have “some innovative features, particularly in the cooling department”.

Panoz added that the racing variant of the Abruzzi road car should be ready to compete by Petit Le Mans later this year.
