Abt Sporstline tunes VW Golf R to 306bhp

The VW Golf R has been tuned to 306bhp by German company Abt Sportsline.

The modified car uses the same 2.0-litre engine as the standard machine, but has 306bhp - up 40bhp from the standard car.

Golf R v Focus RS v Megane 250

The Abt tuned car hits 0-62mph in 5.2sec and has a top speed of 162mph. That compares to 5.7sec and 155mph for the standard car.

Exterior modifications include a front skirt and spoiled, LED running lights and a choice of 18 and 19-inch alloys.

ABT is more renown for cosmetic & bodykit upgrades than anything else. To add another 40 hp to the R is a walk in the park. I reckon this is only a Stage 1 conversion. Any reputable UK's tuners can do that & most likely for less $. Anything up to another 100hp on the R is easily attainable.
