Hamilton and Button's team dismisses Red Bull boss's complaints

F1 testing pace-setter McLaren has insisted its rear wing is within the regulations, despite questions from Red Bull about its legality.

Red Bull boss Christian Horner claimed this week that his outfit and Ferrari were unhappy about the way that McLaren was using the airbox and engine cover to help stall the rear wing of the MP4-25 - which could give the team a straight-line advantage.

"There's a bit of a fuss over McLaren's rear wing," Horner said. "They have a slot on it and they can pick up a lot of straight-line speed.

"I think it will get resolved before the first race. We've asked the FIA for clarification although I think Ferrari are probably more excited than we are to be honest."

McLaren has, however, moved to play down the matter - and says it is not only sure the design is wholly within the regulations but also has questioned whether Ferrari are as upset as Red Bull Racing.

A spokesman for the Woking-based team said: "We're very confident that our car is entirely legal - and we're not aware of any protest. In fact, we've spoken to Ferrari this morning and they're not aware of any protest either."

I don't think it is only Formula 1, there seems to be a pattern when an organisation such as those controlling F1 and Football is dominated by an individual with too much power. Formula 1 is a classic mess, but in my opinon so is football, though I love motorsport, and wouldn't mind a bit if football ceased to exist tomorrow.

Over the week-end I was with some friends who happen to be football fanatics, so I saw things I would normally avoid. Having seen snips of the Portsmouth v Birmingham match, when the television clearly showed a Birmingham goal, which was not allowed by the officials. I then learned that the bloke who seems to be in charge of football (Blatters?) has ruled that devices to ensure that ensure that when a goal is scored the correct result can be determined should not be allowed. SO the pillock in charge would rather ensure that wrong decisions can continue.

Its a pity there isn't some heavenly ombudsman who can sent a bolt of ligthning to reduce such self serving idiots to plasma

If Rooney wore a new pair of boots would Liverpool protest?

If Strauss got a new bat would Australia complain?

Why, oh, why is it always F1.

Anyway, should Red Bull not have wings anyway....

Even so, I'm with Leslie Brook on this one. It will be perfectly legal - up until McLaren wins a race!
