Alfa Romeo Mitos equipped with Fiat’s innovative new Multiair engine will cost from £15,165 when they reach UK showrooms in the spring.
The base 135bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged unit will be the entry-level Multiair model, with the range-topper being the 170bhp version of the same engine. It will carry the Cloverleaf badge and cost £17,895.
The 118bhp 1.4-litre turbocharged non-Multiair Mito costs from £12,745.
The 135bhp version will be available in either Lusso or the more luxurious Veloce trim. Extra equipment on the Cloverleaf model includes unique 17-inch alloys, a darkened headlining, a revised steering wheel design, new wing mirrors and special Cloverleaf badging.
Other models set to benefit from Fiat’s Multiair technology include the Fiat Punto Evo and an as-yet-unspecified Chrysler model.
Multiair not only eliminates the throttle butterfly but has a completely new take on how a camshaft actuates the intake valves, as well as the tech to subtly vary the timing of the valve openings.
It increases power and torque by 10 per cent over an equivalent non-Multiair engine, while also decreasing fuel consumption and CO2 emissions by the same amount

In the flesh the Mito looks fantastic much better than in pictures. Even though I am an Alfa Owner (159) this little car is way too expensive even for a so called up market brand that Alfa is trying to achieve. I can't help thinking that they should make the price more attractive thereby giving more people the opportunity to buy one and creating the brand image based on third party refferal (don't know if thats spelt correctly).
My 159 has been an absolute dream to own, 3 year warranty, never put a foot wrong in those three years. If the Mito is as reliable as my car then it should not take long for it to create the right image.

The engines sound fantastic. But how about a quick face lift for that slightly awkward looking from end though. Its so nearly desireable, but not quite there yet. There again thinking what they are about to do to the Grande Punto, perhaps they shouldnt...........
