Nissan’s new Qazana has been spied testing for the first time on UK roads.
These low-quality pictures give little away about the production car’s styling, but Nissan sources have previously confirmed it will retain the concept’s exaggerated proportions, as well as much of its interior.
The car will mark a new era for design at Nissan as the firm aims to give the brand a more attractive and emotional appeal.
The Qazana, due on sale next October, will be renamed for production and be built at Nissan’s Sunderland plant on the same platform as the Note. Nissan is keen to expand into Europe’s booming crossover market following the success of the Qashqai; it sold 183,294 examples last year.
The Qazana concept featured four-wheel drive, and it's possible that the production car will be offered with it as an option. It also had a torque vectoring system to split torque between individual wheels, and unusually generous ground clearance for a car in its class.
The production version is likely to make its debut at the Geneva motor show in March.
