Porsche 911 GT3 R will race in FIA GT3 next year

The Porsche 911 GT3 R, the firm’s new FIA GT3 challenger, has been unveiled at the Autosport International racing car show in Birmingham

Based on the Porsche 911 GT3 RS road car, the racer is powered by a larger 4.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine and has a maximum power output of 480bhp. The engine powers the rear wheels through a six-speed sequential gearbox.

The GT3 R is built by Porsche’s Motorsport Department at the Weissach Development Centre. It replaces the outgoing 911 GT3 Cup S and changes over that model include a wider track, with flared wheel arches. It also features LED lights and weighs in at just 1200kg. Tech features include ABS and traction control.

Deliveries to customers and teams will begin early next year, after the car makes its debut at the Autosport International show in January. It will cost from 279,000 euro (£249,000) excluding local taxes.

"Tech features include ABS and traction control."

#"~$£%* Angry!

ABS and TC have nothing to do on a race car!
It is very unfortunate that the regulation permits that!
It should never exist on race cars!
