Euro-spec Helter will be launched at the Autosport International in January

Australian sports car firm Skelta will launch the European version of its racer bearing the same name at next year's Autosport International.

Named after the Beatles song Helter Skelter, the road-going racer will be available with two engines - a supercharged 2.0-litre Honda unit producing 335bhp and a Hartley 3.0-litre V8 producing 454bhp.

The car has a chrome-steel spaceframe, with a carbonfibre body. Its lightweight construction gives the car a kerb weight of 720kg, while also helping it achieve a 50/50 weight distribution.

Customers can choose from two derivatives of the two-seater: the G-Force, with gullwing doors and removable targa roof, or the wide-bodied, open-top Spyder version.

Prices and on-sale dates will be announced at the show in January.

I just can't see it selling in great numbers to be honest.

I have seen one of these in the flesh at Oran Park Raceway outside Sydney and can confirm that it is even uglier in the flesh. It does however go like the proverbial and it drove rings around EVERYTHING on the track that day. Very entertaining!
