Plug-in open-top hybrid sports car revealed at Paris show; showcases styling for future sports cars

Audi has launched this Spyder version of its e-tron plug-in hybrid sports car at the Paris motor show.

The Spyder variant will be a diesel hybrid in contrast to the pure-electric e-tron, which was shown at the Detroit motor show earlier this year.

It has a twin-turbocharged TDI unit powering the rear axle and a pair of electric motors at the front.

The new concept’s dimensions are similar to those of the original e-tron, though. At 1.8m wide and 4.06m long, it’s 13cm longer and 3cm wider than the all-electric version.

Audi says that the styling “hints at the design language of future Audi sports cars” although it admits that the switch to a roofless configuration is also meant to differentiate this car from the all-electric variant.

Re: Audi e-tron Spyder revealed

Not a fan of german cars in general, but this looks wonderful.

About time the germans stopped breaking HP records and looked at more reasonable and relevant criteria....
