Firm forced to remove teaser image of a Countryman under wraps from Facebook to "avoid confusion"

Mini has removed from its Facebook page a teaser image of a Countryman under wraps that hinted towards a new Paris motor show concept to “avoid confusion”.

Mini UK launched a competition on Facebook to win tickets to a design evening on 23 September where it would show off its concepts for the Paris motor show.

The Countryman teaser image was posted alongside the competition, which led to internet speculation that a new Countryman variant could be on the way.

However, Mini’s concepts at the Paris motor show will be three electric scooter concepts, revealed yesterday and Mini sources in Germany confirmed to Autocar the firm will not have any other concepts on display at the show.

Therefore, Mini has removed the teaser image from its Facebook page to “avoid confusion and to stop people getting the wrong end of the stick”, according to a spokesman.

Mini is, however, expected to show the new Countryman WRC car at Paris, although this will not be at the design preview in London in two weeks’ time.

Re: Mini u-turn over Paris concept

I think I'm missing something here - isn't the pic just exactly what it says, a Countryman under a sheet? How does that hint at a future concept?
