Red Bull duo forced to talk through Turkish Grand Prix clash

Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber have made peace following a meeting at Red Bull's factory.

The duo, who collided while contesting the lead of the Turkish Grand Prix, met with each other, team boss Christian Horner, tech chief Adrian Newey and consultant Helmut Marko at the team's factory in Milton Keynes.

"It was a positive meeting, which draws a line under the incident that happened on lap 40 of the Turkish Grand Prix. The team is now fully focused on next week's Canadian Grand Prix," said a team statement.

Vettel was quoted as saying: "The team had got us into a great position and it wasn't good for them what happened - so I'm sorry for them that we lost the lead of the race.

"Mark and I are racers and we were racing. We are professionals and it won't change how we will work together going forward. We have a great team and the spirit is very strong. I'm looking forward to Canada."

Webber is quoted as saying: "It's a shame for the team, as we lost a good opportunity to win the race. It's sport and these things can happen, but it shouldn't have done.

"I feel for everyone at Red Bull, at the factory and everyone involved. Seb and I will make sure it doesn't happen again and will continue to work openly together, no problem. We have talked enough on it now, it's done, we're looking ahead and I'm focused on the race in Canada next week."

Population of Germany = 82 million

Add in Austria (that well-known province of Germany! ) and there's another 8 million.

Population of Australia = 21 million.

Population of the english speaking world that think certain German F1 racing drivers are fundamentally untrustworthy, unsporting and generally repellant = 350 million (give or take)

Red Bull or not, this sport does not need another Schumacher, although Vettel's move was at least more open to interpretation than Schumacher's on Villeneuve...

To perform a successful overtaking manoevre you need to actually pass the car in front, crashing into it, irrespective of what team it was, means you weren't good enough / fast enough / lucky enough to get past...or you were just a cheating wee b*stard and got caught out trying to drive another car off the track.

It has also shown that RedBull was biased in Vettel's favour, by its initial opinion on who caused the crashed.

Upset Germans by saying that their boy is to blame, and it's going to have approximately 4 times the effect on product sales in Germany, than it would have in Australia.

The team exists to promote the drink, rather than vice versa. If I was Red Bull, I'd favour Vettel even if Webber could walk on water.
