Plug-in model shown - few details released

Suzuki has shown off its Swift plug-in hybrid at the Tokyo motor show.

The Swift mainly uses its electric motor for short, low speed journeys. The petrol engine will then be used as a generator, so that as it runs it will charge the batteries.

The Swift Hybrid will be connectible to mains electricity from a standard household socket, although no performance, economy or fuel consumption figures have been released.
