Facelift gets new interior, exterior and new powertrains

Hyundai has launched a facelifted version of its Santa Fe SUV.

The facelifted Hyundai Sante Fe gets a new front grille, fog lights, bumper and headlamps at the front, while new lights and twin exhausts feature at the rear. The sills, wheels and roof racks have also been redesigned.

Joining the engine range is a new 2.2-litre diesel unit, which produces 194bhp and 311lb ft of torque. Its CO2 emissions are 176g/km, an improvement of 15g/km over the outgoing model. A 171bhp 2.4-litre petrol engine is unlikely to make it to the UK.

Both engines are available with a choice of a six-speed manual and auto boxes.

Fuel saving equipment has been fitted to the Santa Fe, including a new rear spoiler and low resistance tyres. A new ‘eco coach’ has been added to encourage economical gear changes.

Safety upgrades include a rear view camera built into the rear spoiler, with the image being displayed in the rear view mirror. Active headrests are standard on all trim levels, as is ESP. Two trim levels are available – GL and GLS. GLS options include a tyre pressure monitoring system and auto-levelling xenon headlamps.

The all-new interior includes a built in sat-nav system, and a choice of carbon or wood effect trim.

Production of the new Santa Fe has already begun and expect UK sales to begin later this year. Prices are likely to start at around £22,500.
