Michael Schumacher will test a 2007-spec Ferrari Formula One car at Mugello this week as prepares for his comeback at the European Grand Prix.
It will be the second time the seven-time world champion has tested the car since it was announced Schumacher would be filling in for the injured Felipe Massa.
His spokesman Sabine Kehm confirmed he would be running at Mugello on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Ferrari had asked for special dispensation to allow Schumacher to test this year’s car, which is prohibited by the current rules. The request was blocked by rival teams Williams, Red Bull and Toro Rosso.
Schumacher has also been racing go-karts to help prepare himself for the race in Valencia on 23 August.
