Arnage replacement heading for Pebble Beach

Bentley has released the sixth of its teaser videos for the Arnage replacement. The latest footage concentrates on the colour and trim of the new car, but gives away very little about what it will look like.

Melinda-June Jenkins, colour and trim manager at Bentley, reveals three new colours have been created that will be unique to the new car: Pale Sapphire, Gazelle, Solitaire and Arabica.

The car, dubbed 'grand Bentley', will make its first public appearance at Pebble Beach concours in California, but the interior will not be revealed until the Frankfurt motor show in September.

The engine will continue to be a turbocharged 6.75-litre V8, but the significant componentry is new, ousting parts that can trace their ancestry back to 1949, when Rolls-Royce/Bentley designed the engine that powers the Arnage.

To emphasise thatthe car is new from the ground up, Bentley is expected to ditch the Arnage name. The new name may be lifted from the history books but whatever its inspiration, it will have to convey a major move upmarket.

The price will increase, too, taking the flagship Bentley closer to the Rolls Phantom with a figure well in excess of £200,000.
