Renault launches sporty versions of its Clio and Megane to coincide with Silverstone event

Launched to coincide with the World Series by Renault motorsport event at Silverstone next weekend, the two special editions are based on the Dynamique models in the current range.

Cosmetic changes on the World Series Clio include an extended front spoiler, side skirts and a sports rear bumper, as well as WSR badging. The new trim level is available with either the 1.2 16V 75, TCe 100 or dCi 86 engine.

The World Series Megane also gets the same cosmetic tweaks as the Clio, but with an added rear spoiler and special 17-inch alloy wheels. The WSR package is available on both the fiver-door hatchback and the coupe.

Engine choices for the Megane are the 1.6 16V 110 or the dCi 106, both of which are mated to a six-speed gearbox.

Prices for the WSR Clio start at £12,170, while the Megane WSR costs from £16,595. This is a £500 premium over standard Dynamique cars, but the extra kit would add £1650 if ordered separately.

Both cars will be in showrooms for 6 July.
