RX wins individual model award, with Toyota Prius in second

Lexus has been named as the most satisfying brand for the ninth year running in the 2009 What Car?/JD Power UK Vehicle Ownership Satisfaction Study.

Lexus also scooped first place in the individual car category with its RX, while the Toyota Prius claimed second.

The RX scored highly in the quality and reliability categories, as well as in servicing at the dealership.

Steve Fowler, editor of What Car?, said, “Sales of SUVs may be on the slide, but it’s clear that owners of the Lexus RX 4x4 would gladly recommend their car to others.

“Many of the RXs in the survey were hybrid models, and with the hybrid Toyota Prius in second place, it’s clear that environmentally friendly cars are hugely satisfying to own.”

In the manufacturer category, Lexus scored equally well in service satisfaction and vehicle appeal.

Honda finished second behind Lexus, with Mercedes-Benz, Skoda and Toyota completing the top five.

Belinda Poole, Director of Lexus, said, “We are extremely proud of what has been achieved by our network of Lexus Centres and are determined that we will continue to set the highest standards for customer satisfaction in the UK motor industry.”

Toyota captured two individual model awards; the Toyota Prius (upper medium car) and Aygo (city car) each ranked highest in their respective segments.

The other segment-level award winners were the Honda Jazz (small car), Skoda Octavia (lower medium car), Audi A6 (executive/luxury car), Mercedes-Benz CLK (sports car), Citroen Grand C4 Picasso (MPV) and Lexus RX (SUV).
