This is the latest instalment in the rejuvenation of the Ford's prestige US-only brand, Lincoln. The MKT concept is Lincoln's first ever crossover vehicle, and will also be the first Lincoln to use the new Ford range of EcoBoost engines; specifically a 3.5-litre V6 with 415bhp and 400lb ft of torque, which will be mated to a six speed automatic gearbox. The car can run on ethanol E85 biofuel, ordinary petrol, or any mix of the two. It also uses a recycled plastic body and banana silk rugs inside, just in case you weren't convinced of its green credentials.The Lincoln MKT was conceived “as a modern Grand Tourer, really a Lear Jet for the road” says Peter Horbury, Lincolns executive director of design. The idea is that the crossover design gives more space, but can still fill the role of executive transport. This is backed up by the four executive style seats that adorn the interior, with floating LED screens and cameras inside the vehicle allowing conference calls to be taken on the move.The plastic body has been made by Sabic Innovative Plastics, who also were involved in the Chevrolet Volt concept, although any car that is well over 17-feet long will struggle to convince hardcore environmentalists.
