Luca De Meo appointed Chief Executive Officer for Alfa

Luca De Meo, currently Chief Marketing Officer of the Fiat Group, has become the new CEO of Alfa Romeo.He replaces Antonio Baravelle, who was Alfa's CEO for two years before resigning in order to join an Italian media group. Sergio Marchionne, Fiat Group's CEO, said that "the commitment, passion and determination with which Luca De Meo faces great challenges is the best guarantee for Alfa Romeo's relaunch plan."De Meo played a significant role in the relaunch of the Fiat brand over the last three years, and the success of that illustrates how well suited he is to the job of developing Alfa Romeo.De Meo will retain his position at the Fiat Group as well as taking on the new role.

How old is Luca De Meo? He looks incredibly young. To hold such a job he much be very talented, but does he have the experience? Alfa need someone who will make sure their after sales service network is jacked up and the perceived quality of the product is improved.

I think after too long in the wilderness Fiat are getting things right, this guy starting at Alfa must be a dream job especially as Alfa seem to on a role with some gorgeous current models and what looks like a bright future with new models coming soon.
