Lotus has finally given the green light to a replacement for the Esprit, a model that will have an essential role in boosting the Hethel firm’s brand image.

Key elements to the Lotus strategy have emerged weeks before new CEO Danny Bahr is due to reveal his seven-year plan for the company.

Agree it would be great if Lotus could get the Lexus LFA V10 for the top version, but even the 417bhp 5.0 V8 from the IS-F will work very well in the Esprit

I hope the new esprit won't be another evora coz theres no denying its a big disapointment, it looks like a cheap korean coupe and its performance is not great compared with other 50 grand supercars. If lotus wants the new esprit to suceed they must make it beutiful and go like a proper supercar like over 190MPH and 0..60 in 4 secs
