    Please Help Me.......!!!!! Car trouble....

    Nov 10, 2009 11:05 AM

I have no idea about cars and really need some help: My car is a Pug 307, registered in 2006 and has approx 30k on the clock (its an automatic).

I bought it on the 12th September this year, the following day, a bang came from under the bonnet, the car jolted forward and 5th gear seemed to stop working (gearbox faulty messaged also showed on the dash). When I turned the car off, sat for a few minutes and then started it again, it seemed fine but I booked it in anyway at Carcraft (where I bought it from) who then sent it on to Peugeot who established the fault to be the Pressure Regulator (I know a solenoid was changed). It then, 14 weeks later started doing the same thing again; the bang, the jolt, loss of 5th gear, faulty warning on the dash but they're saying that this time its the Pressure Centre that holds the fault so they'll not do it under their guarantee. Carcraft are saying that because its almost 2 weeks past their warantee, that they won't pay for it either. I just want to know if i'm being ripped off, could there be a link between the two faults and is it possible that they didn't fix it in full the first time round???

     Any advice would be amazing!!!!!!!

Carcraft don't have the best reputation for interacting with their customers after they've flogged a motor from what I've read. Drop them a line, invite their comments in writing and then contact the local Trading Standards Office at the same time stating the pertinent facts, that is, when you bought it, what they done thus far etc.

Don't mess about, just go for the jugular immediately. Anything extra is a bonus then.

Blooming Norah! You've had exactly the same problem within the space of two days! That is beyond the limits of forbearance and human crumbling.

Broadly, the few useful words of comfort I can offer are these:

It's your fault for buying a Peugeot, and whatever the outcome of this debacle, you should get rid of it as soon as possible, as next month a piece of trim will fall off and get jammed under the seat - never to be retrieved; at some point in 2010 something will go bang again in the engine - this time a timing belt; and the ECU will blow up shortly afterwards costing you quite literally almost billions.

Of course, if that doesn't happen, do write back, because you'll have found a peach there.

    Ho Jodie,

I wouldnt touch Carcraft with a bargepole however i am in the industry so know all about them and you cannot be faulted for purchasing a car from them as they appear very professional.

i agree with the previous posts, get onto trading standards sharpish and go straight for the juggular. it may also be worth speaking to the Peugeot dealer directly to find out if they actually did the work that Carcraft said had been done.Regardless of the limited warrnaty having expired they still have a duty of care to the customer so it should be down to them to resolve this.

once it is sorted then get rid of the car sharpish...307's seem to be nothing but trouble.

    good luck
