Tata Motors is set to allow other firms to build and sell its Nano under their own brand, according to its vice chairman.

Ravi Kant said at an awards ceremony in India that Tata was considering letting other firms build up to 10,000 Nano units a year at their own production facilities.

He said the firms wouldn't have to sell it under the Tata brand, and they could sell it under their own name as part of the agreement. "We call it Nano, they don't have to," said Kant.

Certainly makes sense as they can't produce enough vehicles to satisfy demand themselves. 

OOps just make sure there is a fire exringuisher in the spec !

 

yeah just like toyota made sure that the floor mats were fixed and ford made sure that nobody wud have a problem with brake hoses.

 Can't see why anybody else would want to make it. I'm sure the Nano suits its' target market ( India) but I can't see it suiting western markets.

Dam right, keep this horrible piece of scrap in India. I do not want to see yellow little blobs clogging up the roads, i hate this car so much it reminds me of me of the following !! cute if your 4 yrs old not cute if your 45 and working in staples !!
