What is it?

This is the Infiniti EX37, which the car maker expects to be the biggest seller, and the first model we have been able to test on British roads. With all-wheel drive and quasi-SUV looks, it is partly a rival for BMW’s X3 and Audi’s Q5, but it sits lower to the ground and has a more sloped roofline.

Have seen these lined up and their new dealership. In the metal they look great much better than the competiton really striking. I'm a petrol lover but in these weighty vehicals and with no eco tec its a bit thirsty dirty and heavy. The diesel will correect some of these shortcomings. I was thinking they'd come in at about £30k for basic one not £35k.

I think the main problem is that, for the car to have sufficient credibility Infinity will have to acknowledge their Nissan roots, but that very few people will be prepared to pay £36k for a Nissan "SUV-Coupe".

BMW can only do that thanks to the supernatural pulling power of that blue and white badge on the front and rear...

Maybe they won´t be really succesfull here in europe, but who cares? The cars look great and if you have the kind of money they are asking for, the real benefit is the proposed service from the dealers. I choose one of these any day over an Audi or BMW.

As well as a lack of diesel power, the lack of anything resembling a dealer network may also be a slight drawback to the sales of this thing. Never mind, I'm sure any warrantly work or servicing can be carried out at your local Nissan centre.

i really like them, its a great car and brilliantly engineered, these folks that stated Nissan, so what, Nissan cars are well made and engineered also.  someoen has drawn attention to Nissan, but look at Lexus, look at Mini (a Peugeot engine).

these are fantastic vehiles and well priced and for me it just shows how much people actually pay for BMW, Merc and Audi when they have no reason too and its fool hardy of them; Infiniti are v. cool and will be huge.

yeah, sales will be er, to infiniti. A >£35k, real world <20mpg, badge-engineered, cramped SUV. And they say the BMW X6 makes no sense. Irony obviously isn't dead. Less than 12 months away, the lower-roofed, sportier BMW X3 MkII will strangle this Nippon-Yankee mongrel at birth.

Look at Lexus? Good point... (I think that's what you call an own goal). Lexus dropped the large petrol engines in the RX due to dwindling sales - it's now marketed as a hybrid only vehicle.

Look at Nissan? Isn't the Murano is one of those brilliantly engineered cars - available with a 3.5 V6 petrol only. The Murano is hardly the bread winner of Nissan's range is it? So how Infinity intend to buck this trend and survive in the UK is a question I'm sure many people are asking themselves.

 I do like Infitini's, but we've had a an X3 sized Infiniti with the Murano and I think they won't make any sufficient headway here until they bring out a compact saloon A4, 3 Series alternative, which i hope would have the potential to sell very well with the right engine line-up.

the reference to lexus is a clear one i.e. everyone questioned lexus when they first came out and look at them now and as for BMW, well they are in bad old shape, they are clinging to niche after niche and the niches are running out and as for X6, I do not see this in the same space as the X6 not forgetting the X6 is a total minger.

Nissan have proved time and time again they will compete and they will advance, BMW on the other hand is running out of tricks and as a pony its past it, for sure it will lumber on, but not long left for them now.

Infiniti has been only just started and the brand has the desire and the will to succeed; it has the means and thus it will advance, it will take sales from BMW et al (for sure); thus no own goal (apart from your demonstration in terms of your comprehension) and BMW will not strangle anything at birth with the exception of itself, BMW has not got the resource to compete for any length of time and has killed itself, Infiniti is another eight nails in the BMW coffin.

"BWM has not got the resource", "BMW running out tricks", "BMW will strangle itself", BMW has killed itself" BMW is dying, BMW's family members are by its bed side as the last rites are being read, BMW is dead, BMW's funeral is Thursday next at 2 pm, BMW blah blah, blah.

Well, thank you for that incisive and objective company analysis, which is backed up by about as much credible data as the one supporting the Noble peace prize case for Prez Obama.

There used to be another erudite member here, by the name of North, who constantly predicted the imminent demise of BMW in long rambling posts (full of mysteriously high number of dots)! So, the question arises: is there a "BMW is finished, YIPEEEEEEEEEEEE" club you jolly chaps are members of?

firslty, read the texts above, I was writing in response to thus;

as for you, I will take your word for it with regards to North and subsequent views on BMW, I think North is right, I think BMW are in a dangerous position, you can think what you like and I am glad you do.

i do find it funny that you ask for evidence on such a large subsject and then complain about long texts! BMW is in a bad position for several reasons, many firms are now ahead of them in terms of the future of vehilces, all firms will be hitting excellent figures re. CO2 et al by the next generation of cars; thus all BMW is left with are expensive (not better than anyone elses quality etc) cars, but asking huge money.

I do not know if North referenced BMWs structure, but if she did she is also right, but unless you (overdrive) are a designer and or understand business structure (both in detail) there would no point having a conversation with you unless you wanted long texts to educate you on such matters-but you said you did not want too.

needless to say BMW (within the next five years) will undergo dramatic change and not more than seven years from now they will be either bought or have to merge; stick a clock on it; North sounds like she is a very clever woman and judging by your post you are unhappy at her, did she beat you and is it becuase you got beaten by a woman you are upset.
