  • Honda CR-Z revealed

    Sep 30, 2009 4:29 AM

This is the world’s first hybrid sports car, the Honda CR-Z, which will go head to head with Volkswagen’s Scirocco when it reaches showrooms next year.

Don’t be fooled by the concept tag that Honda is officially using; the neat CR-Z in these images is 95 per cent production ready and has altered little from the futuristic vision wheeled out at 2007’s Tokyo show.

See the high-res Honda CR-Z pi...Read the full article

At last! a hybrid I would actually consider buying. If it stays in the £18k region, Honda may have a winner.

Couldn't agree more. And hopefully it will have some petrol Honda fun as standard!

The front seems like that of an Audi which has undergone some personalization, whereas the rest of the car is concerned, strange is all that comes to mind. Having seen Prius' pictures for so long, and now this hybrid from Honda, it appears that people in Japan somehow believe in making technologically different cars stand out from the rest, even if that means making them aesthetically less appealing.

If the chassis is a mix of civic and Jazz, does it get civic (saloon) wishbones or the jazz/insight dead beam?

A shame they have watered down the looks from the original show car, but its still good looking, and its excellent news that they have gone for a manual box. Power sounds about right for something so small. If it drives ok, it could be my next car. (as long as the price doesnt get much higher)

Properly interesting! It's a shame that they can't give it an electric motor with a more of a significant punch to make the most of it being hybrid, but all the same, it'll be fascinating to see how it drives and sells.

Looks like Honda holds the future of Hybrid. Prius is too expensive, it's more relevant to allow more people to buy-in to the hybrid concept to help the environment.

The styling of Skydeck and CR-Z are as good as any of the top marques, if not better.

Love the rear lighws on the Skydeck...

Eh? The article claims the CRZ will start from around £18k, which is exactly the same list price that the larger Prius starts from. Which is the same price as the cheapest Passat diesel and cheaper than the cheapest Insignia diesel.

Finally... a hybrid with the looks to back it up, like the others above I hope it drives well too - perhaps we're beginning to see the start of enthusiasts hybrids??

looks good, but it will need to be super lightweight if its going to cost £18k, as it will need superb dynamics and be fun/rewarding to drive.

i will wait for the kerb weight and power figures before deciding if its the right thing.

i'm not very optimistic though, any £18k sporty image car needs to do a 0-60 in under 8 seconds.
