These are leaked images of the Land Rover LRX concept, a lightweight cross-coupe that has come to light five days before it was due to be released on December 18th.
Company bosses say it is very close to the production LRX, which will be shown at the Detroit show in January and represents what Land Rover global marketing director, Colin Green, calls "the future of the brand”.

This is very interesting but how can Land Rover rely on their new owners producing such a vehicle? Surely the entire future plans will be subject to a complete revue when the take over is completed.

That thing is seriously tasty.  If the final vehicle looks as good as that then it will sell well.  Love the headlights, its looks like its eyeing you up ready for a fight.

It will also be ruined once they slap a number plate on it.  Shame we cant do what the yanks do and not have a number plate on the front.

This is an excellant looking vehicle from Land Rover, the kind of thing we want to see from this marque, but it HAS TO PERFORM AS WELL OFF ROAD as the rest of the Land Rover range. Thats what marks Land Rovers out from the rest of the 4x4 brigade & if it doesnt, it's failed even before it hits the showrooms!

i disagree.  i think Land Rover should build a road specific model.  that way it can beat the others at their own game.  Land Rover should offer a spectrum of 4x4s with off road ability ranging from world class to none and be clear that people have a choice.

this would be much better than people buying LRs that are hopelessly over-featured for a Chelsea Tractor.

think of it as a cynical campaign to make money if you will, but this is what Porsche did with the cayenne and now they are buying VW!  car maker need to change their ways and react to changes in the market in order to survive.  people complain about the death of UK industry, it is precisely for the reason that they are unable to/ too arrogant to change in response to market pressures that they fail. Jaguar is another example of this with their reluctance and sloth to introduce new styling and diesel engines.

wake up britain!  get with the times. there is no empire any more, get over it!

    Bring it!!

This goes against the grain for me, as a rule I hate this type of vehicle, they are totally oversized and offer little more than a good family estate. However on the looks front this thing ticks all the boxes, but I would not buy one.

That's a brave new niche vehicle and it sounds like it would tick all the boxes for me! An SUV that has 3 doors, drives well and yet is as good off-road as its more staid brethren...

    ..or maybe not so new...

I like it, but would I buy it? Probably not.
