  • New Ford C-Max revealed

    Sep 04, 2009 1:43 AM

This is Ford’s new C-Max, the first car to be built on the next generation of Ford’s Focus platform.

The new car will be available as a five or seven-seater, and both will be launched at the Frankfurt motor show.

See the Ford C-Max official picture gallery, plus five and seven-seat spy shots.

This is the five-seater; the seven-seat model has a different body style, like the Re...Read the full article

Well what a surprise, a real car that actually does look a bit like the concept car it is supposed to resemble.

After seeing those dreadful pictures of the black 7-seater with sliding rear doors I was very discouraged, but seeing the pics of the regular 5-seater does renew my confidence in Ford who have been 'on a roll' with other recent launches (Fiesta, Mondeo and Kuga).

An MPV is a notoriously difficult vehicle to style successfully (see VW Touran if you don't believe me) but Ford seems to have passed the test...

It looks like the Kuga to me!!

A vehicle with a nice front, not a lot can be said here other than that, and most probably more complicated or busier side panels than they should have been; tail could have been better, as at the moment it's just too simple.

In the introduction, the author has quoted the design chief extolling the interior; as no pictures of the much hyped up interior have been provided, this makes it impossible for the time being to weigh his words against the evidence, as there is none.

I've been hankering after the new Fiesta (good price, good looks and good drive) but with a family to consider that's really too small for my needs.  This new C-Max however looks to be just the ticket.  Simply a larger Fiesta!  So long as it can match the economy of a BMW 3 series then I'll be buying.

Where are the pictures of the "Benchmark" interior? Again, Autocar quote things they can't back up.....

The interior better be better than current Ford interiors,  which are dreadful

I have been reliably informed that the base of the centre rear seat squab has no padding because they couldn't engineer the folding mechanism successfully.  If that's true, I certainly don't want to be that passenger.

From what I am lead to believe, the interior is pretty much standard and a derivation of that used in the Fiesta.

    It's all about the twisties....

people that say Porsche have a lazy design team.. need to look at ford. This new C-max just looks like a fiesta/Kuga a bit fatter and higher up with a bigger back end. Most fords look pretty much the same, KA = Fiesta= focus The S-MAX is the only one that looks a litte different but then when you go inside its got the same interior as all the other fords

looks as though Ford hired a Chinese company to make a poor copy of the Kuga and somehow make it look dull at the same time.  Poor effort and already looks dated like the ridiculously under wheeled Mondeo, poor facelift attempt of the Focus and I am the only one who thinks the Fiesta is already beginning to look a little dull, especially the front end.

x2, I always said fords date very quickly thats why every 10 years they have a so called evolution in design. the current one is the "Kinetic design" sounds posh but will get outdated very quickly. Same with the Mondeo, when it came out in 2007 I was like they have ruined it. Its to big, under powered and if you buy the basic model like most people do the wheels are tiny giving the whole car a horrible profile

That's strange because Renault managed to do it with the much smaller Modus.I would say it is much more down to cost than anything else. But I think there is an error by Autocar, they seem to have put up pictures of the Fiesta.
