I am so green with envy Sutters!

Forget Veyrons or anything else anyone would care to mention this is the Ultimate road car!

The best road car ever without a shadow of a doubt!

I defy anyone to say different!

All hail the mighty McLaren F1 GTR!, and if your not, why not?,here's a car, nothing tricked up, a successful racer straight out of the box,and even now 14 years on it still makes the hairs on the back of your neck stand up!, just one thing Steve, how about a Christmas competition with some simple questions, the prize, a passenger ride in the GTR!!, not to shabby an idea,eh?

Comparing a stripped out race car to road cars such as the 911 C4 (not even the GT2)... nice pro-British propaganda Autocar (as per usual lately). You should really compare it to a street legalised 900 BHP Ferrari FXX. But no... you wouldn't do that since the Ferrari would destroy the McLaren; or would you?

The downshifts! I'm on cloud 9...

That's a bit silly. This is more or less the stock engine (in fact about 10BHP down on the original road car so why compare it with a souped up Enzo. The comparison with the Porsche wasn't to belittle an excellent road car it was to show how much faster a car such as this is, over what we usually think of as an everyday very fast road car.

The McClaren back in 1994, in road car trim, was faster in both top end and acceleration than an Enzo despite being made some 8-9 years earlier. The McClaren in 240mph guise did 0-100 in 6.2 seconds, the standard 217mph Enzo in 6.7 seconds.

Can you imagine what the 0-100 mph of the car in this video would be ? It must be in the 4.5 to 5 second range. Incredible.

For crying out loud - it's just a bit of auto-hedonism! enjoy it...there's no pretense that this is a serious road-test..you're watching an iconic supercar (forget its nationality).

You sound like the kind of guy who would whinge about a lottery win.

If this doesn't make your tingly bits tingle you are not a car fan!   Just an epic car I love the McLaren... and as mentioned above, those downshifts, what a sound!

...is taking Eau Rouge flat this weekeend...
