  • On video: going shopping for supercars

    Dec 08, 2007 9:04 PM

Imagine spending £1.6 million on seven dream cars in the space of just eight hours. Picture making your way from dealership to plush dealership, writing the kind of cheques you’d normally associate with property purchases, and ending up with a fleet of exotic metal fit for a supercar club.
Having trouble? Autocar understands. That’s why writer-at-large Chris Harris spent a day doing exactly that, with chief executive of The Segrave Club...Read the full article

OK - nice job and one I think you did well on.

But blimey Harris - no 1.8 diesel Mondeo's?

What's more - I was appalled by the look of lust on your face in the Lambo showroom - did you have a boner?

At least you appear to be not all that tall.

interesting.... not the sort of response i was expecting from the plum.  where was the berating of the blatent advertising for this car club?  the fury of driving around in a phantom when they could have walked 10 yards?  is the sheer pompousness of it all not a bit too much?

    Bring it!!

Hi Kee Law - hope you are well.

To be honest - I was interested in seeing where the thread went before I went into it too deeply. On the other hand - I managed to accuse someone of having a boner and of not being very tall.....!! :-)

Seriously though - I like the idea of spending the money - I like the idea of trawling around in a Roller to do it but the commercial imperatives that the mag seems to indulge in (rather too often for my liking) was very evident. Is that Harris's fault though or was he merely following orders?

I bet Autocar does a feature in the not very distant future - I bet that Seagrave comes out of smelling of roses - I bet that we see a number of adverts within the mag for the aforementioned company.
