BMW has added two new 1-series models to the Coupe range.

The new BMW 118d Coupe is powered by a four-cylinder common-rail diesel engine, which has CO2 emissions of 119g/km and combined fuel economy of 62.8mpg. BMW claim it is the cleanest diesel-powered sports coupe available in the UK.

It can get from 0-62mph in 9.0sec, before going on to reach a top speed of 130mph. The diesel unit produces 141bhp and 221lb ft of torque.

Prices for the 118d start at £20,500 for the ES mod...Read the full article

Is someone intentionally baiting the conspiracy theorists with the vw link on this page? This one could run and run.

Can someone with a better understanding of aesthetics explain why I find the 3dr 1 series so attractive (esp in white and in M Sport spec) I very nearly bought one ( then drove past a mazda dealer on a sunny day and in full mid life crisis, next thing I knew an mx5 was up my drive) and yet find this little coupe so repulsive.

    It's not a coupe it's a two door saloon like a late 80's Nova.

I'm with you on the 3 door hatch. Saw a 3 door 123d, white M-Sport and thought it looked great and so much better than the 5 door.

If you haven't driven a particular car don't say you have just to prove a point. It doesn't fool anybody and is bloody annoying.

I think the 3 door is, against all expectations, quite a nice looking car.  The front isn't great, but otherwise it is nice.  The 2 and 5 doors are much more subjective.  In my opinion...

I love the look of the one series coupe - despite myself. It's got an almost there sluttishness I think is great.

But the only versions I really want is are

    i. CSL 135i with about 100kg less - it'll never happen, shame every M car

ii. A 135d with the engine from the 335d - it'l never happen (see above)

I'm with you there. It's so wrong it's right. It also reminds me of the 1980s 3 that I coveted as a child. It's the only BM I've had a hankering for in years.

Oh, pleeeease.  Why is everyone getting moist over cars in "Essex Girl Stilleto" white!!

If BMW had released the styling options that were mentioned with the Tii concept car a year ago then I might understand all the excitement.

Here goes then; This is disgraceful journalism from Autocar, they love BMW's and write the sales garb for the company, they publish it weekly and call it AUTOCAR..... Hehehehehe - discuss.

I got a lot of stick for defending Autocar from similar critisism over their love of Fords but here goes. I see no bias in Autocar's preference of certain models BMW, Ford, Jaguar, Lotus to name the usual suspects. Thing is they all have a lot to like about them and probably produce, if not the class leaders, the most driver focused vehicles in their class.

It was a tongue in cheek response to a commonly quoted complaint about Autocar.
