Volkswagen is considering an ultra-efficient Bluemotion version of the Scirocco.

The eco brand will be extended to a number of new models over the next few years and the Scirocco would be the first application on a car with sporting credentials.

Also being lined up for eco treatment are the Passat CC and Tiguan SUV.

This car really hits the point. Contemporary and sporty.

 but of course performance rated in how many acres in can plough in a day.

As opposed to the infiately more sporting 95bhp 1.8 front wheel drive Scirocco GT from last time arround? Like the last one it won't set the world alight, but it will look pretty, handle quite sweetly and make a very appealing low cost company car. Nothing very new to see here.

I think this is a great idea, I can see there being plenty of folks out there who want a good looking car that is cheap and efficient to run.

Correct. In todays world many people are realising that there are few opportunities to use a performance car and with the likely rise in the cost of fuel/company car tax considerations, cost is an issue. That doesn't however mean that they don't want a good looking, good handling car.

You make a good point although I think you should compare the weight of both vehicles when considering power outputs, and personally I dont think the current one is anywhere near as good looking.

 check out the power to weight ratios of those 2 cars...

the 95bhp model is much more sporting.

Customer profile of Scirocco Bluemotion: 43 year old professional, opted out of company car and about to be relocated to an office 42 miles from his home. He will drive mostly on motorways and rarely, if ever, exceed 85mph. He will prefer the model in white and the only option he will comsider is a sunroof to maintain his beautifully tanned bald head.

What's wrong with a white Scirocco?! Perfect colour for the car, in my humble opinion.

hence my choice of a white one. that sad 43 year old is me. am genuinly interested in this model. imagine it will be perfect for a 84mile daily round commute.
