    What is it?

Despite the name, this isn’t an all-new Discovery, but an extensive facelift of the Discovery 3.

The changes are more mechanical than cosmetic, and chief among them is the enlargement of the V6 diesel engine from 2.7 to 3.0 litres. Essentially this is the same engine recently fitted to the Jaguar XF, except that in the Discovery there is a single state of tune.

With 242bhp, it sits between the lower and higher-powered XFs, but the Discovery’s 443lb ft mat...Read the full article

Looks great and the interior looks excellent. The name of the 4x4 nearly has to jump onto a second line on the boot. It's like the Mercedes-Benz ML 320 CDi 4Matic. Just put Discovery  TDV6 HSE. We know it's a 3.0-litre Land Rover; Autocar's told us.

Get over yourself Landroverhell.  Every single time there's an article on them you always plug your biased, rubbish website.  Move on.  Get on with your life, if you have one.

Hope this new model is more reliable than mine, or countless others, but you are still stuck with Land Rovers uninterested attitude, and trying to avoid warrant issues, for further details, please go to www.landroverhell.com

Oh not this again. By the way, I think you meant warranty issues, not "warrant" issues.

If you still have your Land Rover (which you obviously don't like) then sell the damn thing and buy something else. If you've already done so then stop going on about it and move on with your life. Most of us are not in the slightest bit interested in your website.

Autocar, I like the way you casually mention that despite the extra engine capacity and equipment, and beefed up suspension, this model weighs 140 kg less. That is not an insignificant amount, and I'd be interested in knowing how it was achieved. As for the new grille - yuk. It's more Chigwell than Cheviot.

Agreed - is it just a lighter engine? (140kgs would be a massive saving...) or have they skimmed off other components? Saving the weight of two fully grown adults is commendable - even if it did have slightly more weight starting from than most other cars ;)

Get it on a weighbridge before you decide how much less it really weighs! You'd be amazed at how many modern cars are 100kg to 200kg over their 'official' kerbweights (because everyone wants to look like their being green).

I saw the new disco at the Midland Motor Show with the LED running lights on, I know they are the in thing but they still look so cheap and nasty to me, everytime I see them they just scream Nova with a massive exhaust! Maybe they will grow on me.......

they are switched off on pic but you can see them like chrismas lights starting just right of the indicator then running round and back to the top.

Here for a good time, not a long time

Absolutely - that's a pretty substantial chunk knocked off the Disco's weight, yet it's mentioned only in passing in the article.  I'm glad that LR are finally looking to weight reduction to improve all aspects of their vehicles, and I hope 140kg is only the start...

Or was it the last time they took it to be weighed it still had 3 mechanics onboard trying to get the windows to work and a CD to eject...
