A new 800cc, three-cylinder turbocharged version of the Hyundai i10 supermini will be introduced in the first half of 2010.

Based on the Hyundai i10 Blue CNG concept that was revealed at the 2008 Geneva Show, the new i10 should produce around 90bhp and emit less than 100g/km.

Though the concept ran on compressed natural gas and emitted just 65g/km despite a power output of 97bhp, CNG demand in the UK has always been low, and so the production car will run on standard petrol.

i think small turbo engines will revolutionise the city car, applied to all the current favourites aygo/107/c1 etc. things are looking rosy. more power and even less emissions and fuel consumption.

I'd be quite interested in seeing a blown version of the current 1.2 engine in the i10 to produce a proper little pocket rocket!

90bhp from a 800cc turbo is seriousley good, considering a lot of 1.4 N/As can't even produce that sort of power.

Bolt two together for a 1.6 twin turbo V6 with 180bhp... I'd be first in line

Love the idea of this engine. Now all Hyundai need to do is make something interesting to put it in.
